Expert: a barrier to the digitalization of health care is poor training of medical personnel

In the Dagestan state medical University, Department of Biophysics, Informatics and medapparatura, opened a course of medical Informatics.

His goal: to teach students with all computer programs used in healthcare. Medical Informatics in DGMO will study for 1, 3 and 5 courses.
“Electronic registry, patient card, medical history – all our students should know and be able to use in their work, – says the rector of the University of Suleyman Mammaev. And when they come to the clinic, you will be able to teach practicing colleagues.”

So far, the level of Informatization of healthcare in Dagestan is not at a very high level. In July of this year, the acting head of the EP Vladimir Vasilyev at the workshop on this issue, admitted: “We are lagging behind somewhere very much, but the situation can change very quickly, it is necessary to restore order.”

In General, the problem of medical personnel training, which is not just the skills of working with computer, and understand the opportunities and prospects of modern information systems is one of the sharpest for the entire industry, regardless of the subject, experts say.

“One of the last surveys on the causes of health Informatization, which was carried out in the framework of the conference “Argstev 2018”, has revealed that lack of trained personnel is the main sectoral problem, – told the portal the expert of the company “K-IIA” Alexander Gusev. – Mentioned by 53% of surveyed healthcare leaders. It seems to me, the better to develop our industry as a whole, the more will appear different developments and promising ideas in the field of medical information technologies, the biggest barrier to their development will be it is the lack of training”.

However “MIS” provides its software products to universities completely free of charge. Educational versions of medical information systems there are from other developers, for example, Interin PROMIS, bars Groups. However, the wide use of them in educational process depends on other problems : the preparation of teachers, technical support of computer classes medical universities.
It remains to add that, according to the Association of development of medical information technologies (ARMIT), not more than 20 of the higher education institutions involved in training in the specialties relevant to medical information technology. Almost a quarter of them are in Moscow.
