Interviewing and conducting the medical examination of the 304 women, researchers found that old wounds can cause high blood pressure, poor sleep, anxiety and depression.
It was a revelation for the researchers, because the evidence had been before. But before the flash mob #MeToo the women were interviewed about health, and they might not notice any symptoms.
The study involved American women aged 40 to 60 years, none of them smokes and is not addicted to alcohol. Thus, to cancel the pressure other symptoms on the bad habits will not work.
58 women (19%) had experienced violence at work, 67 (22%) — rape on the street, 30 women (10%) — and that, and another. The second group of women three times more often showed symptoms of depression and half of vertigo and sleep disorders, than those who in the history of the violence was not. Those who got from his colleagues — half and by 89% more often.
Interestingly, women who have experienced such problems at work, tend to have the best education and material status than others. The researchers attribute this to the fact that they had to work in a place full of men in authority. Given the small number of participants, to spend one hundred percent true parallel between the events of the past and health, the present researchers did not, but their work is a step forward in the study of the characteristics of women’s health.
It was also suggested that sexual trauma is one of the reasons that women in General are twice as likely to happen depression and anxiety disorders than men.
